I depend very heavily on photoshop (PS). I have this thing where I feel if it wasn't inked and colored in PS, it's not worthy of being posted. With that theory, I post nothing. I have dozens of good sketches, but without the time to scan them in, resize them, ink, then color them in PS, they never see the light of day.

Thanks to an opportunity presented by my professor in Drawing II, I had to complete a comic book page in four days so my piece could be featured in a display case about comic book art. My only problem was I had nothing to show and not much time to make anything. Certainly not enough time (between work and class) to do the whole photoshop ordeal, specially with the problem of a quality print. Without PS, I didn't know what to do. No idea I came up with could be done without the incredible magic of PS, what with it's layer ability and blending tool, etc. Totally frustrated and on the verge of giving up, I began to look through my multitude of comics and try different methods of copying styles without using a digital source. Upon mimicing Ben Templesmith's backgrounds, I found a new tool of choice, a way to make texture, gradients, and anything I want in the background; marker and water. Using that simple method, I began my first real comic book page. Now, without PS, I feel that the possibilities for hand drawn images are endless.

I've lost my crutch, my excuse, my reason for never having anything to show.
In other words, I'm happy as a pig in . . . you know.
